Advanced Game Art and Design (AGAD)
Course Description
This course is a continuation in the study of game design and interactivity. Emphasis is placed on visual design, evaluating, scripting and networking protocols, and legal issues as well as 3D visual theory. Students compile a game portfolio. Advanced topics include the use of audio and visual effects, rendering, modeling, and animation techniques. Students work in collaborative teams to develop a final 3D game project. Art, English language arts, mathematics and science are reinforced. Work-based learning strategies appropriate for this course include mentorship, school-based enterprise, service learning, and job shadowing. Cooperative education is not available for this course. Apprenticeship is not available for this course. Game project showcase, community service, and leadership activities provide the opportunity to apply essential standards and workplace readiness skills through authentic experiences. Simulations, design projects, academic discussions, and teamwork activities further enhance the skills essential for success in the game design industry.
